The latest in the Italian culinary calendar, what's new, tips, tricks...

Firstly a big thankyou to all our new and returning customers for making our website a success. Your comments and feedback are welcome and gratefully received. The future brings more products and items exclusively available here at Machiavelli, as we continue our commitment to import fresh Italian food and produce, twice a week since 1997.

Smaller portions to plan with – we have adjusted our portions to make it even easier to plan a dinner, lunch, picnic or create taster platters and antipasti selection boards. Cooking an Italian dinner for guests or creating a themed evening couldn't be easier with per-person/per-couple sized portions now available.

Seasonal special – what could be more perfect and simple to prepare than our Tortelloni with Porcini Mushrooms dish, hand-made in Montecatini Terme just outside Florence and available in 300g per person portions. Bring a pan of water to the boil adding a little sea/table salt, cook for 3 minutes, drain and serve with liberally scattered Parmesan shavings and a drizzle of our Organic Sicilian olive oil. Filled with porcini mushrooms, this pasta dish creates a wonderful truffle aroma whilst being cooked.

Italy wins Conde Nast Traveller Reader's Award for Best Country and Sicily best island. Your favourite country is Italy – you reckon it has the best food/restaurants (96.02), culture (96.19) and climate (95.66) and we couldn't agree more! Overall winner is Sicily taking best location in the world this year with Italy in a respectable 3rd of the Top 100.
